Bhutan, officially the Kingdom of Bhutan Bike trip is a landlocked country in South Asia. Located within the Eastern Himalayas, it’s bordered by the Tibet Autonomous Region of China within the north, the Indian state of Sikkim, the Chumbi Valley of Tibet, China in the west and south, the Arunachal Pradesh state of India within the east, and therefore the Indian states of Assam and West Bengal within the south. Bhutan Bike trip is geopolitically in South Asia and is that the region’s second-least-populous nation after the Maldives. Thimphu is its capital and largest city, while Phuntsholing is its center .

Bhutan’s independence has endured for centuries. It has never been colonized in its history. Situated on the traditional Silk Road between Tibet, the Indian subcontinent and Southeast Asia , the Bhutanese state developed a definite national identity supported Buddhism. Headed by a leader referred to as the Zhabdrung Rinpoche, the territory comprised many fiefdoms and was governed as a Buddhist theocracy. Following a war within the 19th century, the House of Wangchuck reunited the country and established relations with British Empire.

Bhutan fostered a strategic partnership with India during the increase of Chinese communism and features a disputed border with China. In 2008 Bhutan transitioned from an absolute monarchy to a constitutional monarchy and held the primary election to the National Assembly of Bhutan. The National Assembly is a component of the bicameral parliament of the Bhutanese democracy.

DAY 01: SILIGURI ARRIVAL TO PHUENTSHOLING

Begin your mystical journey to Bhutan after you arrive in Siliguri. The city of Siliguri is strategically places on the border of India and Bhutan. Begin your ride towards Phuentsholing from Siliguri and drive on the national highway 31. After crossing the thick forests of Dooars, reach Jargon and enter the border city of Phuentsholing. Explore the mystical city of Bhutan at your own pace in the evening. Gather for a group orientation session which is followed by dinner and an overnight stay in the hotel.

DAY 02:  PHUENTSHOLING TO THIMPHU

Post breakfast begin your journey to Thimphu. The long winding roads of Bhutan with its sporadic rain makes for an interesting experience. Make few stops at tea shops and enjoy the local tea. Enter the capital city of Bhutan by the late afternoon. Obtain the permits required for your further journey in Thimphu. Overnight stay is provided in Thimphu.

DAY 03:  THIMPHU LOCAL

Begin your exploration of the capital city of Bhutan post breakfast. Visit the memorial chorten, nunnery temple and mini zoo. Also visit some national landmarks such as national institute of traditional medicine, folk heritage museum and weekend market. Overnight stay is provided in Thimphu.

DAY 04:  THIMPHU TO PUNAKHA

Revel in the view of the Himalayan mountain as you make your way towards Punakha Dzong. Take a detour to visit the temple of the mad Lama and Chimi Lhakhang enroute. After reaching Punakha, overnight stay is provided in the hotel.

DAY 05:  PUNAKHA TO PHOBJIKHA

After exploring Punakha in the early morning, begin your journey to Phobjikha. Phobjikha is a well preserved glacier valley and it is also the home of the black neck cranes. The valley of Phobjikha is situated at an altitude of 3000 meters above sea level. Overnight stay is provided in a hotel in Punakha.

DAY 06:  PUNAKHA TO PARO

Post breakfast, begin your journey to Paro via the Dochula pass. Visit the Druk Wangyal monastery enroute. This monastery contains paintings depicting the lineage of the current monarch. Stop for lunch at Thimphu. Later after reaching Paro, overnight stay is provided.

Post breakfast, wear your hiking boots and begin your hike to the Taktsang monastery which is perched up on the peak of a mountain at an altitude of 3180 meters from sea level. After exploring the beautiful monastery begin your descent and have lunch in the cafeteria. Overnight stay is provided in Paro.

DAY 08:  PARO TO SILIGURI

Begin your journey to Phuentsholing from Paro. After reaching Phuentsholing, unwind in the hotel and spend the rest of the day exploring the city at your own leisurely pace. Visit the Chukha hydrothermal project or the crocodile breeding center. Later begin your journey back to Siliguri. Overnight stay is provided in Siliguri.

DAY 09:  DEPARTURE

Post breakfast, explore the beautiful city of Siliguri at your own pace and later head towards the Bagdogra airport and begin your return journey.
