Delhi to Leh Bike Trip

Delhi to Leh bike trip. It is India’s capital territory, is metropolitan area in the country’s north. In Old, a neighborhood dating to the 1600s, stands the imposing Mughal-era Red Fort, a symbol of India, and the Jama Masjid mosque, whose courtyard gives shelter to 25,000 people. Nearby is Chandni Chowk, a vibrant bazaar filled with food carts, sweets shops and spice stalls.

This is 15 day trip route is one of the longest route and covers the entire stretch of the Leh Ladakh Bike Trip.  This bike trip consists of

Manali

Manali is known as after the Sanatan Hindu lawgiver Manu. The Manali came from the word ‘Manu-Alaya’ which accurately means ‘the abode of Manu’. Legend has it that sage Manu stepped off his ark in Manali to recreate human life after an excellent flood had deluged the planet . Manali lies within the North of Kullu Valley. The ‘Valley of the Gods’ is the another for that valley. An ancient temple dedicated to sage Manu in old manali village.

The British introduced apple trees within the area. No Apple trees grew within the area, then british found primary groves near patlikuhal. To the present day, apple along side plum and pear are the simplest source of income for the bulk of people here. Colonisers introduced the both Rainbow and salmon Trout into the rivers.

Itinerary

Day 1 - Arrival at Delhi Your Ladakh trip begins with a pit stop at Delhi. After reaching Delhi, our travel representative will guide you to your hotel rooms where the documents for your travel will be provided. Have a leisurely afternoon to explore the capital city of our country. Overnight stay is provided at the hotel followed by dinner. Day 2 : Delhi – Pathankot (480 km) Begin your journey post a scrumptious breakfast. Your first destination is Pathankot. The drive to Pathankot is fairly simple and it is a very smooth ride as you will drive on highways. Overnight stay is provided at Pathankot. Day 3: Pathankot to Srinagar/Sonmarg (330 KM) Begin your journey early post breakfast. You will be riding across beautiful mountains. You have to cross the largest tunnel in Asia to get your destination. You will be reaching Srinagar by evening. Spend the rest of your evening exploring the beautiful city of Srinagar. Visit the Dal lake and frolic at its river banks. Dinner followed by overnight stay is provided at the hotel. Day 4: Srinagar/Sonmarg – Kargil (200 KM) Begin your day early with a healthy breakfast. Start your journey towards Kargil and cross Sonmarg and Zojila pass. Cross the Drass and reach your destination KArgil by evening. Visit the Kargil memorial museum which showcases the lives of our valiant Indian army. Overnight stay is provided in Kargil. Day 5: Kargil to Leh. (211 km) Begin your journey towards the capital of Ladakh Leh, post breakfast. Ride across smooth roads and enjoy the wonderful scenery of Ladakh. You will be crossing the iconic Fotu-La, Namik-La, Lamayuru monastery and moonland enroute. Reach Leh by evening and have the rest of the evening to leisurely explore the beautiful capital. Dinner followed by overnight stay is provided. Day 6: - Leh Local SightSeeing Begin this day at your own leisurely pace and head out to explore Leh post breakfast. Visit Gurudwara Pathar Sahib, magnetic hill and Shanti stupa as these are the most famous places in Leh. Leh palace is an architectural masterpiece, so make sure to visit this beautiful monument. Dinner followed by overnight stay is provided. Day 7: Leh - Khardung-La –Diskit- Hunder (Nubra Valley) (125 KM) Post breakfast, leave Leh and head towards the Nubra valley. You are in for a pleasant surprise during the ride on this day. You will be crossing the Khardung-La pass, which is also known as the “world’s highest motorable pass”. After crossing this magnificent pass, head towards Diskit. Later, the sand dunes of Nubra valley will welcome you. Overnight stay is provided at a camp in Nubra valley. Day 8: Hunder- Turtuk -Sumur ( Nubra valley) (180 KM) Post breakfast, begin your journey towards Turtuk. Turtuk is a beautiful place and the people of this region follow their own unique traditions. Turtuk is abundantly blessed with fresh fruits and vegetables. Reach your campsite location by evening and enjoy the night with a camp fire. Day 9: Sumur (Nubra Valley) - Pangong Tso-(165 KM) Post breakfast, head towards the Pangong Tso lake via the Shyok valley. The river of Pangong Tso is amazing and it is extremely beautiful. Spend the day frolicking on the river banks at your own leisurely pace. Pangong Tso lake owes its popularity to the climax scene of the hit Bollywood movie “3 idiots”. Overnight stay is provided at the campsite. Day 10: Pangong -Tso to Leh (140 km) Have a leisurely breakfast and begin your day by having fun at the banks of the Pangong-Tso lake. Begin your journey towards Leh after lunch. You will be crossing Chang-La pass enroute. Reach Leh by evening and spend the rest of the day at your own leisurely pace. Overnight stay is provided at the hotel. Day 11: Leh to Tso-Moriri (220 km) Begin your journey to Tso-Moriri lake post breakfast. The roads leading to this lake is as beautiful as the lake itself. Spend a peaceful day by the banks of the Tso-Moriri lake. Overnight stay is provided. Day 12: Tso-Moriri to Sarchu (230 km) Begin your ride towards Sarchu post breakfast. Enjoy the beautiful sights on the way to Sarchu. We will cross the Moore Plains, Pang and Gata Loops. Reach sarchu in the evening and enjoy an overnight stay in camps followed by dinner. Day 13: Sarchu to Manali (225 km) Begin your journey to Manali from Sarchu after witnessing the most beautiful sunrise. Enjoy the view of sunrise with a piping hot cup of tea and breakfast. Cross Rohtang pass and reach Manali by evening. Manali is covered with beautiful trees and mountains on all sides. Overnight stay is provided at the hotel followed by dinner. Day 14 : Manali – Chandigarh/Ropar – (267 KM) Begin your journey towards Chandigarh post an early breakfast. You will reach Chandigarh by afternoon. Spend the rest of the day at your own leisurely pace. Overnight stay is provided at the hotel. Day 15 : Chandigarh to Delhi (250 KM) Begin your journey to Delhi post an early breakfast. You will reach Delhi by afternoon. And thus ends the adventure of a lifetime. Pack your bags with memories of Ladakh and head onwards to your next destination.

  • Here is a list of essential things one should carry for a trip to Ladakh, While we can tell you the essential but kindly think of your requirements also. Families coming with kids should carry stuff you kids need. We feel a cross check of luggage with this list before leaving, would be helpful to many of us in reducing the chances of forgetting some small things while we go on a trip. This way we can enjoy the trip without worrying over the availability of some item

  • Best way to choose clothes is - Spread all your clothes you wanted to carry for trip on bed. Now remove 50% out as per priority. Now you got the best clothes. Avoid too much of clothes you will end up wearing half of it. But you will end up wasting lots of time in packing and unpacking while others will be enjoying outside
  • 1 Towel
  • 6 - 8 Pairs of socks (woollen)
  • 1 pair of flip flops
  • At least two light jackets
  • Warm head cover, ear covers & Forehead covers (To avoid getting AMS in high altitude due to cold winds).
  • 1 heavy woolen jacket
  • Woollen hand gloves
  • At least 2-3 pairs of thermal - Most useful thing. This way your bag comes down to half its size.
  • Rain coat - A Must thing. Even if it’s not raining it will save you from cold winds, mud and water on roads.
  • 2-3 Jeans/Track pants (If you want more comfort) and 5 to 6 T shirt.
