Srinagar Leh Bike Trip

  • Start your Trip from Srinagar and pass through Sonmarg, Zojila Pass, Kargil, Fotula Pass, Ulle, Leh, Khardungla, Nubra, Changla, Pangong and conclude your trip in Leh.
  • Embark on this fantastic 9 days bike ride starting from Srinagar and ending at Leh.
  • During this bike ride, you will cover around 800 km and will reach up to the heights of 18000 feet from the mean sea level.
  • In 1989, Srinagar became the main target of the insurgency against Indian rule. The area continues to be a highly politicised hotbed of separatist activity with frequent spontaneous protests and strikes. On 19 January 1990, the  massacre of a minimum of 50 unarmed protestors by Indian forces, and up to 280 by some estimates from eyewitness accounts, set the stage for bomb blasts, shootouts, and curfews that characterised Srinagar throughout the first and mid-1990s.
  • Large scale protests were seen following the execution of Afzal Guru in February 2013. In 2016, after the death of militant leader Burhan Wani, there were mass protests in the valley and about 87 protesters were killed by Indian Army, CRPF and police in the 2016 Kashmir unrest.
  • temples were destroyed and houses burnt; but a really small minority of pandits still remains within the city. In 2015 protests in Srinagar from local Kashmiri pandits were held so as to precise demands from the govt associated with their official status, temples, and therefore the ability a temple in Pakistani-administered Kashmir.The city is found on both the edges of the Jhelum River, which is named Vyath in Kashmir. The river passes through the town and meanders through the valley, moving onward and deepening within the Wular Lake. The city is understood for its nine old bridges, connecting the 2 parts of the town .

There are a number of lakes and swamps in and around the city. These include the Dal, the Nigeen, the Anchar, Khushal Sar, Gil Sar and Hokersar.

  • Hokersar is a wetland situated near Srinagar. Thousands of migratory birds come to Hokersar from Siberia and other regions within the winter season. Migratory birds from Siberia and Central Asia use wetlands in Kashmir as their transitory camps between September and October and again around spring.
  • These wetlands play an important role in sustaining an outsized population of wintering, staging and breeding birds.
    Hokersar is 14 km north of Srinagar, and may be a world class wetland cover 13.75 km2 including lake and marshy area. It is the foremost accessible and well-known of Kashmir’s wetlands which include Hygam, Shalibug and Mirgund.
  • A record number of migratory birds have visited Hokersar in recent years.
    Birds found in Hokersar are migratory ducks and geese which include brahminy duck, tufted duck, gadwall, garganey, graylag , mallard, common merganser, northern pintail, common pochard, ferruginous pochard, red-crested pochard, ruddy shelduck, northern shoveller, common teal, and Eurasian wigeon

Day 1 : Arrival at Leh

After arrival at Leh, meet our tour representative and head towards the hotel where you will be getting the necessary documents for your bike trip. Rest up and explore the locality of Leh. Overnight stay followed by dinner is provided at a hotel in Leh.

Day 2: - Leh Local SightSeeing

Begin this day at your own leisurely pace and head out to explore Leh post breakfast. Visit Gurudwara Pathar Sahib, magnetic hill and Shanti stupa as these are the most famous places in Leh. Leh palace is an architectural masterpiece, so make sure to visit this beautiful monument. Dinner followed by overnight stay is provided.

Day 3: Leh - Khardung-La –Diskit- Hunder (Nubra Valley) (125 KM)

Post breakfast, leave Leh and head towards the Nubra valley. You are in for a pleasant surprise during the ride on this day. You will be crossing the Khardung-La pass, which is also known as the “world’s highest motorable pass”. After crossing this magnificent pass, head towards Diskit. Later, the sand dunes of Nubra valley will welcome you. Overnight stay is provided at a camp in Nubra valley.

Day 4 : Hunder to Pangong-Tso lake

Post breakfast, head towards the Pangong Tso lake via the Shyok valley. The river of Pangong Tso is amazing and it is extremely beautiful. Spend the day frolicking on the river banks at your own leisurely pace. Pangong Tso lake owes its popularity to the climax scene of the hit Bollywood movie “3 idiots”. Overnight stay is provided at the campsite.

Day 5: Pangong –Tso to Hanle (160km)

Start your day after a leisurely breakfast. Enjoy at the beautiful scenic lake of Pangong-Tso. Later, begin your journey to the beautiful Hamlet of Hanle. The route to Hanle is challenging. Only Indian nationals can travel on this road. Reach Hanle in the evening after crossing the MAHE bridge. The observatory tower from Hanle offers beautiful panoramic views of the sky. Overnight stay is provided in Hanle.

Day 6: Hanle to Tso-Moriri (159 km)

Begin your journey to Tso-Moriri lake post breakfast. The roads leading to this lake is as beautiful as the lake itself. Spend a peaceful day by the banks of the Tso-Moriri lake. Overnight stay is provided.

Day 7: Tso-Moriri to Leh (220 km)

Start your journey towards Leh from Tso-Moriri lake post a leisure morning breakfast. This route cuts through the Changthang valley. This route is challenging and it also offers wonderful panoramic views. You will be reaching Leh by afternoon. Overnight stay is provided in Leh.

Day 8: Leh to Kargil (211 km)

Begin your journey towards Kargil post breakfast. Visit the magnetic hill and Gurudwara Pathar sahib. Stop for lunch at the Lamayuru monastery. Cross Fotu-La and Namik-La and reach Kargil by the evening. Overnight stay is provided in Kargil.

Day 9: Kargil- Srinagar (203 KM)

Start your day with an early breakfast and begin your journey towards Srinagar. Cross Drass and visit the Kargil war memorial. Cross Zojila pass and reach Srinagar by evening. Thus ends your adventure tour of Ladakh. Pack your bags with wonderful memories and begin your journey towards your destination.
