The park spans an area of 337 sq mi, protecting several species of India’s endangered wildlife. Together with the adjoining Nagarhole National Park 248 sq mi, Mudumalai National Park 120 sq mi.
Gundlupet taluq of Chamarajanagar district is the place where bandipur is located. It is about 80 kilometers from the town of Mysore on the route to a serious tourist destination of Ooty. Therefore, Bandipur sees tons of tourist traffic and there are many wildlife fatalities caused by speeding vehicles that are reported annually. There is a ban on traffic from 9 pm to six am of dusk to dawn to assist bring down the death rate of wildlife.
The town is that the second largest within the Nilgiri Hills after Ooty, the district headquarters. Coonoor has Hindus, Christians, Muslims, Sikhs, Buddhists, Jains and Others. some of them does not follow a religion. Since the Coonoor town is widely divided into two geographies, they are Lower Coonoor and Upper Coonoor. Lower Coonoor hosts the most bus terminal because the railroad station as also the bustling market complex. Therefore Locations like UPASI, Bedford, and Sim’s Park belongs to upper coonoor.
