Narasimha Parvata Rain Forest Trek

Enjoy the Narasimha Parvata Rain Forest Trek From bangalore. Narasimha Parvatha is also famous for the Agumbe peak. It is the part of popular Agumbe Sringeri Trekking Trail. It is Located at an height of 826 metre in Shimoga. Its the tallest peak (about 3780 feet) in Agumbe Ghats. The view from the peak is panoramic. So, one can witness the varied soft hues of the stunning sky at sunset.

The sunrise is equally enchanting. The imposing Kudremukh ranges are visible from the hilltop. The paddy fields of the Mallandoor village are a tower of a relay station in Agumbe. They can also be seen from the summit. There is a big valley between Narasimha Parvata and Mallandoor. slopes and peaks are covered with grasslands and thick forests.

Most common trekking route starts from Malandur (6 Km from Agumbe) and ends at Kigga (10 Km from Sringeri) with overnight stay Narasimha Parvatha. Malandur are generally arrive by private vehicles from Agumbe. By walking it will take near about 2 hour. From Malandur, the trek distance to the height is about 14 Km via Barkana Falls (6-7 Hrs trek).

Kigga is about 8 Km from Narasimha Parvatha. It takes about 3-4 Hrs because people visit Sirimane Falls for 1-2 hours in the trek. Sunrise from the height offers a wide ranging experience.

Narasimha Parvata Trek is start from the Agumbe base station. Agumbe has direct bus connectedness with Bangalore and other large cities in Karnataka state. There are a some of small lodges and restaurants are available in Agumbe. You can do fresh-up and pack food before starting the trek. It’s mandatory to register the names at Agumbe police headquarters before starting the trek.

Itinerary

Day 0 (Friday night):
  • Start from BLR, an overnight journey to Agumbe village!
Day 1 (Saturday):
  • Reach campsite, freshen up & have a nice breakfast
  • Take your pack of Lunch from our Organizer and head to base of Narasimhaparvatha
  • Meet our Forest Dept Guide, start the trek through grasslands, continue through sholas and deeper rain forest with ups and downs in altitude
  • Pass by the side of Barkana waterfall, fill your bottles with fresh jungle stream water Steep ascend for good part to reach the summit
  • Marvel at the panoramic view of western ghats from the top as you are at the highest peak of Agumbe mountain range
  • Since Narasimhaparvatha is highly protected zone of rain forest and camping is not allowed at the top, we will trek down before it gets dark
  • Head back to camp with a proud feeling of conquering a difficult mountain
  • Relaxing bonfire with soft music and long conversations
  • Well deserved dinner and rest for the night
Day 2 (Sunday):
  • Explore Barkana and Jogi gundi waterfalls viewpoints
  • Have lunch at a local restaurant
  • Drive back towards BLR in the night, reach by night
Day 3 (Monday):
  • Reach back BLR early in the morning

  • Pair of water wear to take a dip under waterfalls
  • Recyclable Garbage bags to put used/wet clothes
  • An extra garbage bag to dispose of your trash – we have a no-littering policy
  • Carrying a handwash/sanitizer/tissues will help during the trip
  • Comfortable sports shoes/trekking shoes/sandals –  anything is fine as we have a couple of easy hikes to do
  • Carry your jerkin/sweater – it can get cold at night
  • Carry a poncho or raincoat – based on the weather forecast
  • Carry a Lil bit of cash for Sunday Lunch, Dinner and misc. expenses
  • Mandatory: A photo ID card soft copy like Aadhar or Driving License
  • Carrying a water bottle may help during the entire travel. You can fill at the homestay.
  • Keep your luggage light. Don’t bring suitcases, get backpacks instead. We shall put our luggage in the Homestay as we go out on different activities.
  • Don’t carry expensive items. You are responsible for your own belongings.
