Kerala is well known as a tropical paradise because of waving palms and white sandy beaches. Its backwaters, mountains, coconuts and art forms make it perfect for a holiday destination. Thattekad is a beautiful picture destination in Kerala. Therefore you can enjoy in Thattekad birding sanctuary since it is positioned on the Njiyapilli Hill. It has India’s best Bird Sanctuary, ‘Dr. Salim Ali Bird Sanctuary’ since it offers an amazing view of birds and their landscapes.
Thattekad aviary is found to the north of the Periyar River but at the foot of the mighty Western Ghats. Therefore, the simplest time to go to the sanctuary is between October and March. The closest airport is the Cochin International Airport, and therefore the nearest railroad station is at Aluva.
It was Dr. Salim Ali who first recognized the avifaunal richness of Thattekkad Forest during his Travancore Cochin Ornithological survey during 1983. As recommended by Dr. Salim Ali, in 1983 a neighborhood of 25.16 sq. Km. At Thattekkad was notified as Kerala’s first Tropical aviary. The world may be a part of Western Ghats due to its western slope and almost at the bottom of the very best peak Anamudi 2695 m above MSL. Since 322 species of birds including long-distance migratory ones comprise the avifaunal world of Thattekkad aviary. So visit this place. Because this is a beautiful place for traveling.
