Enjoy wayanad trip for two days because Wayanad is district of India within the north-east of Kerala state. It’s administrative headquarters are at the municipality of Kalpetta. Since Western Ghats with altitudes starting from 700 to 2100 meters. Because it is the 12th district in Kerala by carving out areas from Kozhikode and Kannur districts. The forest area of the village ranges about 885.92 sq.km. Kalpetta, Sulthan bathery and Mananthavady are the 3 municipal town of wayand. There are many indigenous tribals in this area.

Karnataka to north and north-east, Tamil Nadu to south-east, Malappuram to south, Kozhikode to south-west and Kannur to north-west are the borders of the wayanad district. Pulpally in Wayanad boasts of the sole Lava- Kusha temple in Kerala and Vythiri has the sole mirror temple in Kerala which may be a Jain temple. The edicts and caves of Ambukuthi Mala and another evidence state that the place is as old because the beginning of the New Age Civilisation.

History

Historians believe that the human settlements existed in these parts for at least ten centuries but before Christ. Much evidence of latest Stone Age civilisation are often seen within the hills throughout this day Wayanad district. Therefore, The Edakkal Caves from the Neolithic age has 6000-year-old rock engravings. The recorded history of this district is out there only from the 18th century. In past , this land was ruled by the Rajas of the Veda tribe.

The Kutumbiyas (Kudumbiyas):

The two caves of Ampukuthimala speak volumes of a bygone civilisation. Since At the foot of the Edakal Male (hill) caves, Kannada inscriptions belonging to Canarese chieftain Vishnu Varma of Kutumbiya (Kudumbiya) clan of Mysore dating to c. An epigraphist from the department of epigraphy, Madras, it speaks of the superb descendant of Kutumbiya clan, Kannada chieftain, Vishnu Varma, together who killed many tigers, as per Hultchz. Some scholars speculate this Kutumba clan to be the same as the Kurumbas found there.

Itinerary

Day 0 (Friday): ? Start from HYD, overnight journey to Mysore Day 1 (Saturday): ? Freshen up at a restaurant (no shower at this point), have Breakfast ? Drive to Kanthampara Waterfalls and take a dip in fresh mountain water (expect less water in summer) ? Have quick Lunch at local restaurant ? Head towards 900-Kandi which is in deep forest, hike up on mix of mud and cement road in jungle, pose for pictures among Tea/Coffee estates, visit glass bridge if interested ? Reach Wayanad Campsite by late evening, take shower, have some Tea/Coffee with hot snacks, get set for a serene sunset ? Bonfire with music between 9 to 10 PM. After this we have to respect nature in Wayanad and enjoy our social gathering by sharing stories and playing games ? Hot Dinner with Veg/Chicken Curry and Ghee Rice in the chill weather. We even have option for Barbecue at extra cost at our Camp. ? Rest for the night in tents Day 2 (Sunday): ? Wake up early morning ? Go on a sunrise trek to Kurumbalakkotta Mala which is located adjacent to the valley traversed by Kabini river. This mountain offers spectacular view of Wayanad and panoramic view of surrounding mountains and deep valleys ? Trek back to camp, have Breakfast, pack your bags ? Drive to Pookode Lake, go on Boating ? Have Lunch at local restaurant and visit Lakkidi view point ? Drive to Banasura Sagar Dam ? Explore the beautiful setting of Banasura in the middle of Western Ghats ? Start back towards Mysore, reach by night, take Bus back to HYD Day 3 (Monday): ? Reach home in the morning
